How do I identify my dog's breed from her physical appearance?

It’s difficult to say for sure but it looks like he may be part rat terrier or jack Russell terrier or some other type of terrier with pointed ears. He is really cute! Unfortunately there is no way to know for sure. You can do a DNA test but it isn’t 100% accurate and I did it on my dog just for fun.

He isn't a pure bred dog and there are likely many breeds that contributed to how Jack looks. He likely has Chow (though his tongue isn't pigmented) or Samoyed to get that type of tail. The rest is likely a retriever or shepherd mix. For fun you can do DNA test, they aren't very accurate but it might be entertaining at least. What a cutie!!!! This is strictly as guess as visual identification has been proven to be 75% inaccurate but if I had to guess, he looks like there is hound and possibly Cattle Dog. Its highly unlikely however that he is a 50/50 mix. I bet there are several breeds present within his ancestry! There are many canine genetic companies out there and some are better than others. You will need to check however that they have a canine genetic database from the country where he is coming from as genetic signatures do vary based upon location or origin. Your puppy is very cute! It is important to remember that visual identification is inaccurate 75% of the time. However if I had to guess, I think there is some pitbull terrier in your pup. It is likely that your pup is a mix of several different breeds. It is also possible that boxer or Boston terrier is present in the heritage. I recommend to speak with your veterinarian if genetic testing is available in your area. That is the most accurate way to know the heritage.

Ginger certainly looks most like a Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix to me. There are DNA tests available to try to more accurately identify a dog’s breed, but these results are not 100% accurate. Regardless, Ginger is adorable!

You collect a cheek swab and submit to it a laboratory. You recieve information of her genetic make up based on these results. I suspect she is a mix of several breeds such as Shih Tzu, Tibetan Terrier and possibly Jack Russell Terrier. I hope this information helps!

Both of those breeds have a longer coat and based on the photos Paris has a short coat rigth now, however she may develop one as she gets older. It is difficult to tell at this age, especially when you are dealing with a mixed dog, because you can have a mix of characteristic traits that don't completely look like one breed or another. I would allow the pup to grow up a bit more then re-assessing, or I would consider having a dog DNA test done through your local vet. They really are quite affordable and require a quick blood sample. You will also gain valuable intimation on what genetic predispositions she has and what diseases she may develop later in life. I would start there if you are looking for an accurate assessment right now. We are only right about 30% of the time when using visualization only in a puppy this young.
