Hello. Under the right circumstances, a Husky can live anywhere. If your home is air-conditioned or shaded with lots of nice breezes, this would be perfect. But as long as you keep the dog very well brushed out to remove all of the undercoat & he/she has a place to get out of the sun, you will be fine. I do not recommend shaving the coat because the topcoat can actually act as a hat & protect the skin from the sun. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Yes he can even though it is not his ideal environment at all and he could suffer
as he has to adapt to the warm and humid weather.

Hello. You should be able to leave your husky out with what you have available for him. But I will add one more thing you can do for him. Make sure you strip out his undercoat completely ( you will probably need a groomer to do this ). I do not recommend shaving a northern breed, but removing the undercoat & leaving the top coat should keep him pretty comfortable. Of course, if he does seem to suffer from the heat, you may need to bring him into an airconditioned environment for some parts of the day. See how he does & just use good judgement. No special devices needed, but certainly Vuki needs to have access to cold and well ventilated spots during summer time. Can a Siberian Husky live happily in a small condo with work access?

Hello, and thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Coming from a fellow Siberian Husky owner, I think you could do great with this breed. I can tell you’re already thinking about how to provide enough mental and physical stimulation, which is the most important part of having a high energy breed. They can do just fine in a smaller house, as long as they’re given enough opportunities to run! Keep in mind though, that many huskies are escape artists, and often find their way out of fenced yards. I personally had to invest in an invisible fence in addition to the chain link, to keep my little runaway contained! The invisible fence taught her to stop testing the chain link. Your dog will likely need to have some good stimulation before and after your work days if it is kept in the fenced area alone, such as chasing a ball or going for a run. Good luck in your endeavors to find the right dog for you! :-)

My Husky is losing chunks of hair in hot weather, is it normal?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Yes, this is a very normal thing for Huskies to do! This is called "blowing their coat", and it can take up to 6 weeks for them to shed their undercoat. As I'm sure you are aware, Huskies have a very thick coat of fur, and they typically shed this undercoat as the weather gets warmer to help them better regulate their temperature. It can seem like a huge amount of fur, but it is normal. As long as Bowie is otherwise acting normally (eating, drinking, urinating and defecating normally) and he is not getting any bald spots, he is likely just blowing his coat. You may have to brush him fairly regularly during this time to facilitate this shedding. I hope this is helpful!

My 4-month-old husky puppy's fur isn't thick. Is that normal?

He looks like a handsome boy! Its hard to appreciate the character of his haircoat based on picture, but it does look full, though he doesn't seem to have a thick undercoat. I see you are in Belize; if you are in a warm climate, he isn't going to get that very thick coat, as that would increase the chances of him overheating. Why did my Husky puppy's nose bleed? What climate is best?

The reasons for sudden nose bleeds in dogs include trauma, polyps / cysts in the nose, sinus infections, certain types of cancers, or bleeding disorders that affect the body's ability to clot. If the bleeding was occurring only out of one nostril, it is more likely that you are dealing with something like a mass/cyst or a traumatic event. Huskies were bred in an arctic environment, and thus, are capable of living outside in even the harshest of cold weather. They do not generally do well living in very warm climates if they are forced to be outside for long periods of time. Hope this makes sense.

Will my Husky get depressed sleeping outside or sick from rain?

This is a big change for Rocco! He need time to adapt. I would suggest to let him inside till you go to bed so he doesn't see you awake within the house and doesn't get stressed because cannot interact with you or your family members. Sometimes they do not like to sleep in the brand new house, they just don't understand what changed compared to before. Add some toys and treats to make the new recovery even more comfy. He will develop a thick hair coat and, as he is a Siberian Husky, I wouldn't worry for the cold weather. Please post again on the forum or request a consultation if you would like discuss it further.
