Is Hill's Science Diet better for my pug puppy? Do I still need wet food?

Buddy is so cute! I'm not sure if the Pro Pac kibbles is a puppy formulated food, and if it's not, he needs to be on one. Puppies need higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than an adult dog and a puppy formulated food will provide one. Brands of puppy food I personally recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. It's fine to add in canned dog food, just make sure it's puppy formulated. The brands I mentioned above have puppy canned food as well as the dry kibble. I hope this helps :-)

I think the hills science diet puppy food is a great diet. If Fiametta is doing well on this food I would continue it. Royal Canin also has great diets and is a great alternative if you wanted to switch to another food. Both of these companies have a lot of research behind their diets!! Remember anytime you switch foods to do it gradually over at least 7-10 days time.

Buddy is one cute little puppy! As far as his diet goes, I have never even heard of ProPac prior to seeing this photo. I am always a bit leery of diets that are less readily available because they tend to lack the necessary clinical trials and ingredient analysis that many more mainstream brands conduct. While I do not see any obvious red flags regarding nutrient deficiencies in the photos that you have posted, I would recommend offering a higher quality brand, such as Science Diet, Purina ProPlan or Royal Canin. These brands conduct thorough studies with their foods, source ingredients appropriately and have highly standardized manufacturing processes. Should you decide to make a change in diet, be sure to do so gradually by mixing the old and new foods together over 5-7 days. I hope that all goes well!

Hill Science diet is considered one of the top brands of dog food as they conduct many trials and research to assure an excellent quality food. Great question! You want a high quality food, and typically you won't find those at a supermarket. Those are lower quality foods made from poorer ingredients, which is why they are cheaper. Iams and Purina ProPlan are both high quality foods that are cheaper than Hill's Science diet. I recommend feeding Reno a puppy formulated food from one of those two brands. I hope this helps :-)
