Any high quality puppy food will be good. There is no one "best" food. Choose a food that is easy for you to get, is readily eaten and does not cause any gastrointestinal upset. Stay away from store or discount brands as these typically contain low quality ingredients and more fillers. Premium diets include Canidae, Acana, Orijen or Royal Canin. Hello again. It is always hard to say for sure if Lou will tolerate this food as each dog's digestive tract is unique and can be sensitive to many different diets. However, Purina pro plan is a great diet and a good choice for Lou as he recovers. The Purina company has veterinarians on their team to ensure that all of their foods are nutritionally complete and balanced. Butta is so cute! I personally do not recommend raw diets. There hasn't been any scientific evidence that they are beneficial to dogs, and there is a real risk of your dog and you getting sick from the diet due to the bacteria. You would get sick from handling the diet. In addition, it's very hard to get a raw diet balanced at home unless you pay for a commercial. I always personally recommend feeding either canned food or dry food, as those have been proven scientifically to be both healthy and nutritionally balanced for your puppy. I hope this helps!

I'd have him seen by a vet for this issue. The cause of his skin problem needs to be diagnosed so it can be treated correctly.
