My dog peed. Is healthy dog urine dangerous or carry diseases?

I would not get too worried over two episodes. I recommend watching his water intake and urination over the next week or so. If you notice that both remain elevated he should get checked out by a veterinarian as it could be signs of early diseases like kidney issues and Cushing's disease. Also monitor him for any blood in his urine, dribbling, or straining to urinate as it could indicate an infection or even stones.

Under normal circumstances this does not happen. The only way I can think of that they could pass a UTI to one another would be if the healthy dog squatted to pee exactly over where the other dog just urinated, so that some of the contaminated urine touches the vulva of the healthy one. Then bacteria would have to travel up the healthy dog's urethra. This is a very unlikely scenario. So I would not worry about one dog passing it to the other.

I would encourage him to go again after he urinates to make sure he is fully expressed. Also, make sure the hair at the tip of the prepuce is short. I would have your dog checked for a urinary tract infection. These types of infection can cause a change in the color and consistency of the urine. It is normal for male, intact dogs to have some discharge from the prepuce but if the urine itself is abnormal he needs to be evaluated by your vet and have his urine checked.

These signs might be compatible with a urinary tract infection/inflammation. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation), infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed. Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! Sometimes more concentrated urine can have a stronger odor. I would make sure he is drinking plenty of water and not dehydrating himself. If he has been drinking adequate amounts of water and if the smell continues, I would get him examined by his veterinarian and have his urine tested as he may be dealing with a urinary tract infection.
