Why does my German Shepherd have scabs under ear and a head bump?

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics or antifungal meds (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can possibly be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar is useful as well to avoid any scratching (as you have used). This looks like an infection in the skin. Due to the amount of discharge and in multiple locations it will most likely need oral medication to get rid of it. It isn't an emergency, but I would recommend taking Kojack to a veterinarian. They will take a sample of it and look under a microscope to determine what kind of infection it is in order to choose the best treatment. Until you can get to the vet, you can clean it with a gentle antiseptic such as Hibiclens or dilute betadine solution (diluted to the color of weak tea) and apply a thin film of triple antibiotic ointment. Poor Raven! It sounds like she has a bacterial skin infection and ear infection, possibly secondary to allergies. If bathing her does not help, than she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. She may need an oral antibiotic, anti-histamine, corticosteroid, and ear medications to treat the problem. If needed, your vet can do a skin scrape, cytology, culture, or skin biopsy to help determine the exact cause. Hope she feels better soon!

Hello. Willow may have a bit of dermatitis going on. I would recommend bathing her in a Benzoyl Peroxide based shampoo which you can find at most pet retailers & online. Follow the directions by making sure you leave the lather on for 10 minutes before rinsing. Repeat twice a week until the skin heals ( which may take several weeks of bathing ). If the skin does not seem to be healing, she may have allergies or require antibiotics, but a medicated shampoo often will clear up these minor issues. That looks like a deep infection and I recommend to have Lori examined by the veterinarian. Sometimes these infections are related to a bacteria or yeast infection. They can also be related to skin mites or an autoimmune condition. Generally deep infection require antibiotics. It’s very important to make sure you protect the area from any licking or scratching as this will make it worse. If this just appears to be a crusted area and is not raised, it is possible this was an insect bite that got irritated or a small scratch/wound. If the lesion is raised (I can't really tell from the appearance) then we sometimes get warty skin growths that can get traumatized and bleed/crust over. I would wash the area with a mild soap or Hibiclens (available at most drug stores) and apply a topical antibiotic like Polysporin or Neosporin a few times day. If she is scratching/rubbing at the area she may need an e-collar for a few days to stop self-trauma. If the lesions isn't improving after several days of this or it starts to get larger/other spots appear then these would be reasons to seek veterinary care.
