My Frenchie has a growing, painless tail lump. Should I remove it?

Hi there. I think you should take Bella to your vet for an exam. Personally, I think it is likely a histiocytoma which is a benign mass that will often times clear up on it's own within a few weeks to months. However, I cannot diagnose this over the internet via photos. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Hercules to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Hi Alicia! If this bump hasn't gone down, I'd suggest having it checked out by a vet. It could be something like a histiocytoma, which needs no treatment and typically goes away on its own in a few months, but it could be something else. Have a vet see Harley, and they can diagnose the cause of the lump and what treatment, if any, is needed.

It doesn't cause problems if it stays on the tail unless it becomes quite big and annoys Benji. You may have to keep having it drained, and that's why it's recommended to have it removed surgically should it keep filing up. It saves you from repeated trips to the vet to have it drained :-)

Hello. From the photo that you provided, this looks like a growth that may be benign or malignant. It may also be a cyst. Your veterinarian can try to do a fine needle aspirate on the lump in order to determine if it is urgent to surgically remove it. As to whether the hot spot caused it…. that is not likely. Your pet may be licking or chewing at it and it may have had some part in causing the hotspot, but I cannot say for sure.
