My puppy has a red bump on its cheek that's growing. Vet needed?

My french bulldog Boston terrier puppy has a red bump on her cheek that has grown over the last 5 days. Do I need to take her to the vet

This looks like a histiocytoma. If it is one, it will likely go away on it's own (see the article attached). That being said, it is always best to have any bumps/lumps on your dog checked out by your vet.

I would have Milo seen by a vet to confirm that he does have a histiocytoma. If he does have one, then I would wait to see if it goes away. They typically spontaneous regress within three months. Should three months pass and it's still there, then I would discuss with your vet having it removed.

This appears to be a histiocytoma tumor. It is not an emergency. Just get her to your vet for an exam in the next week or so. Here is a link to an article about these tumors:

Hello. If the lesion is a histiocytoma, it will regress & disappear on its own, often in 1-3 months. You can use the Vetericyn 2-3 times daily, but stop if it causes any undue irritation, or causes Minnie to lick the tumor. Any changes or accelerated growth to the tumor should be checked out by your vet as soon as possible. Otherwise, you can just watch things for now. These are benign bumps that are button-like, red, and hairless that can be seen in young dogs. They usually go away on their one in 2-3 months. Sometimes they ulcerate as they regress. If it gets larger, starts bothering Sophie or doesn’t go away in 2-3 months then you should have Sophie looked at by a Vet. There are other skin masses that can look like that, some are benign but there are ones that are also cancerous. I hope this helps and I wish Sophie the best!

Kim's is a young dog so most likely this is a histiocytoma. However, I would err on the side of caution and have your vet conform whether it is benign or malignant. Your vet can insert a small needle into the mass and look at the cells under the microscope to get a better idea of what the mass is. I hope this helps! My puppy has a bleeding red bump on his chin. What should I do?

There are several types of lumps we can see in young dogs. Certainly a histiocytoma is possible but other growths or even infection in a skin gland or hair follicle could also look similar and bleed. I recommend cleaning the lump with a gentle antiseptic cleaner and if it is still bleeding or getting larger in the next 24 hours, have your veterinarian evaluate it. Howl may need a minor type of test called a fine needle aspirate to help determine what type of cells are involved.

My 10-month-old puppy has a hard red lump on her face. What is it?

Chloe is adorable! The lump on her face could be due to a number of issues, including a benign or malignant mass, cyst, granuloma, among others. Given her young age, a benign mass like a histiocytoma seems most likely, but the only way to definitively determine the cause of this lesion is through a fine needle aspirate. This procedure is performed by drawing a few cells from the lesion with a needle so that the sample can be examined microscopically. From there, the vet will be able to provide more information as to whether it is better to monitor the lesion (histiocytomas typically go away without intervention within 3 months) or surgically remove it. I do recommend taking Chloe to her vet to get to the bottom of this issue. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

Just noticed a bleeding bump on my dog's face. What is this growth?

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. My French Bulldog has a hard, skin-tone bump on head. Is it serious?

Hi there. I think you should take Bella to your vet for an exam. Personally, I think it is likely a histiocytoma which is a benign mass that will often times clear up on it's own within a few weeks to months. However, I cannot diagnose this over the internet via photos.
