Should I worry about a firm lump under my dog's nose? Vet or monitor?

This could be a cyst from an impacted hair follicle from when she was rubbing her nose in daycare. I would monitor this for the next 2-3 weeks and if it does not resolve, I would have a veterinarian examine it so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Certainly if it worsens during the next 2-3 weeks I would have this seen sooner. I hope this helps! Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Is that supposed to be the same growth in both photos? The growth if the first photo looks suspicious for a malignant tumor. The tissue around the mass is swollen and the mass itself is raised and ulcerated; both can be signs of a malignancy. I cannot tell you for sure though just by looking at a photo. The second photo looks like a benign wart. In general, any new lumps/bumps should be examined by your vet. The first photo looks worrisome and I think you should have it checked in the next few days.

As long as he is acting normally - eating/drinking/urinating/defecating normally - I would not be worried. I recommend monitoring the area over the next week or so, and if it changes in appearance, i.e. becomes larger or irritated, I would have Benji evaluated by a veterinarian. I hope this is helpful!

Either way, this is likely to resolve with local treatment if the infection is confirmed. I think it would be ok to wait until next week as long as it starts resolving and healing on its own as sometimes these do resolve again if that is what it is. Hi there. What you are noting on Olivia's ear is likely just a little pimple under the skin. Dogs can form these, especially in areas like an ear flap where the skin in thin. Usually these are nothing to worry about, unless they begin to grow or irritate the dog. I would just monitor for now and see what happens. It may even just go away. I hope that helps. Ouch! That is a concerning sign, especially since the bump is a different color from the regular skin, and is growing in size. Since it's hard to tell what a bump is without an exam and sample (biopsy, fine needle aspirate), it's best to bring Coco into your vet to have it looked at. They can take the sample, check what kind of growth it is, and safely remove it if needed. In the meantime, keeping an eye on how fast it's growing/size, and keeping Coco from pawing at it or rubbing it can help keep it from getting infected or more irritated.

It could even be a growth though thankfully most of the eyelid growths in dogs are benign. I would continue to monitor it for now. If it goes away then great. However, if it does not go away and actually continues to grow, I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
