My finicky puppy isn't eating much food. Is this normal behavior?

As your puppy gets older he will need to eat less frequently so this type of behavior is normal. As long as Mokibis continuing to grow and put on weight like a puppy should I would not be too concerned.

As long as he is on a good quality, large breed puppy food and is otherwise well, normal growth and a healthy, shiny coat I would not change his diet. The more variety he is offered at this age the more likely he is to develop into a picky eater and refuse foods regularly! Most pups will have a reduction in their appetite as their growth slows, or ha may have picked up a mild infection etc. Monitor over the next 5-7days a schedule a vet check if any further symptoms develop

If Jasper is otherwise acting normal and isn't lethargic or having vomit or diarrhea he may not need as much food or he may not like his food. I tell clients that they can stop feeding 3 times a day at 4 months of age. I would try feeding twice a day and feed 25% less volume that you were 3 times a day. You can try adding water to the dry food to make it more appealing. Or try a new brand of puppy food and gradually switch over. If he is acting sick then repost with symptoms or see a Vet. Many vets recommend to feed puppies more frequently to avoid issues with low blood sugar. Some puppies are not able to regulate their blood sugar very well until they are four months old. After four months old almost all dogs can regulate their blood sugar and so feeding twice a day is fine. Many dogs eat twice a day even as puppies and do fine. It’s all individual. If he is playful, active , growing and not losing weight it is unlikely he is sick but you should schedule a vet check if you are concerned. Most pups will have a reduced appetite as their growing slows down

If Teddy is still acting completely normal, eating his regular amount and maintaining his weight, I wouldn't worry too much. Some dogs will prefer to only eat once a day and do just fine. The 9 to 12 month range is when I normally recommend transitioning to an adult food, so you could start doing that and see if he wants to eat once or twice a day. If he starts losing weight, doesn't have the energy he used to have, or develops vomiting or diarrhea, I would be concerned there is something more serious going on and would have him examined by your veterinarian.

Puppies generally have big appetites. Not eating as much as usual may indicate illness. I recommend to have the puppies examined and the stool checked for parasites. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
