What is this bump on my 5-month-old female puppy's private parts?

This presentation could be due to a localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking. I would recommend that you have these spots examined by a vet. It could be a small pyoderma or skin infection, which is common in young dogs, or could be related to urine pooling in the area (especially if she has a recessed vulva). Or it could be something else. The vet will examine it and may take a small sample to be examined under a microscope.

Based on the photos you provided, it appears as though Kahlua may have a skin infection with the red bumps on the abdomen and near her vulva. I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment can be recommended. She will likely need an oral antibiotic as well as topical therapy to treat this. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. From the picture you provided and knowing that Lucy is a young dog, this is likely nothing to be concerned about. It appears as though this may be a pustule and that she may have a bit of a skin infection in that area. This can commonly occur in females that have extra skin folds around the vulva which it does appear that Lucy does have some excess skin around the area where urine could potentially become trapped. I would recommend using a topical medication called zymox topical ointment. If this bump is from a skin infection then I would expect it to resolve in about 7 to 14 days with topical treatment. Once this resolves, I would recommend keeping her private area clean using malacetic conditioning spray. If more bumps begin to show up or this bump persists or worsens then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this for further testing and treatment recommendations. This could be a sign of a skin infection called puppy pyoderma. It may go away on it's own, but if it's still there in the morning, I'd have Bean checked out by a vet since it's been there for three days already. Best of luck.

That does look a bit irritated. Issues such as allergies, or even issues like bladder infections can cause itching or irritation. If Laika is licking the area, it can also increase irritation. I would place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on her to keep her from licking it and keep the area clean with pet wipes or a washcloth. If the irritation continues, or you see signs such as straining to urinate, bloody or cloudy urine, strange discharge, etc, then seeking veterinary care is best.

A 5 month old female dog with SMALL amounts of puss from the vagina can be something called 'puppy vaginitis' which is a common condition that is resolved by having the puppy spayed. If there is a LARGE amount of puss present then a life-threatening condition called pyometra could be the cause, in which case she needs to go to a vet right away. Pyometra is very uncommon in a 5 month old puppy and most often always requires a dog to have had a heat first, so puppy vaginitis is most likely. This could also be a urinary tract infection resulting in puss from the vulva. I would have Baliey seen by your vet to be assessed, and have her spayed sometime in the next month or two.
