Why is my unspayed female dog peeing blood, possibly bladder stones?

I am so sorry that Puffy is having this issue. I would recommend having an x-ray performed to rule out or in stones. If she has bladder stones then ideally she would have surgery. If she is about 10 years old I wouldn't be concerned about the surgery as long as her physical examination is good and her blood work is good. If she does not have bladder stones I would recommend getting a urine culture performed and potentially an ultrasound of her bladder. The urine culture will definitively rule out a urinary tract infection while the ultrasound will make sure there is no mass in her bladder. If Lily is peeing blood, I would be concerned that she has a UTI, bladder stones, or even bladder cancer. Unfortunately there is nothing you can give her at home, she has to see a vet for this problem. If she appears lethargic, ill or distressed, or if the urine appears very bloody, then she should be seen by a vet ASAP. In this case, please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. If she is otherwise healthy and happy, eats and drinks plenty, you can wait until Monday morning. Feed her wet/canned food, add water to it, and make sure she drinks a lot of water to help flush the bladder.

This may be due to inflammation or infection in the urinary tract. Stones or crystals can also cause bloody urine. Ideally, Mia should be physically examined by your veterinarian. Abdominal x-rays may be indicated along with a urinalysis and urine culture. If necessary, your vet may dispense an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory.

Urinary stones are concerning because at any point one of the stones can cause a complete blockage of the urethra (tube you pee out of), and can block any flow of urine and this can lead to life-threatening kidney disease and death because the potassium cannot be peed out. Therefore, firstly, it is very important to make sure that Cointhee is able to pee out urine at all times, and isn't trying to pee with nothing coming out. If this is occurring please get him to a vet right away. Blood in the urine can be caused by the stones/crystals causing irritation, and can also be caused by infection that sometimes goes along with the stones. Repeated trauma to the urethra can cause strictures, and long term complications. I would discuss with your vet about taking some x-rays to see how many stones are present, and discuss if surgery is an option to remove the stones. I would also discuss about checking to see if an infection is present. Usual treatment for bladder stones includes antiboitics if infection is present, special food to try to dissolve the small crystals and tiny stones, and surgery to remove the big stones. Has she been in heat recently? At her age with not being spayed I would worry about thisbdisxharge being from the uterus and her having an uterine infection. This can be an emergency that typically requires surgery. Often times they are weak, drinking more water, vomiting and not eating. Other options include a bladder infection which will need antibiotics. Your vet can distguish between the two and see what is needed

Hello. This could be a result of a serious bladder infection, prostatitis, urinary bladder stones, a bleeding polyp/mass or trauma. This definitely warrants a trip to your veterinarian ASAP.
