Puppy ate ylang ylang massage oil. Why is she reverse hiccuping?

Thank you for posting more information on the essential oil blend! From what I can find, it appears that the essential oil in that blend does not contain any toxic oils for dogs. The fact that the cap was still on the bottle makes it more likely Rosie didn't ingest any of the oil. Hopefully she should be just fine, but if you do notice vomiting, anorexia, nervousness, lethargy, tremors, or any other strange symptoms, have her seen by a vet right away. In the future, make sure that Rosie has no access to any essential oils at all to be safe.

The oil isn't toxic, but it can cause vomiting and/or diarrhea. Some dogs can develop pancreatitis, which can cause illness that lasts for several days. If Narla is sick for more than 12-24 hours, she should get checked out by the vet. Her stools may be loose and greasy for a few days as the oil passes through.

I think it depends what kind of Almond oil you are referring to: Food grade or Essential oil that may have other ingredients? It also depends on how much she actually ingested. Food grade almond oil contains a lot of fat and essential oil I'd worry about the other chemicals. The fat in food grade can cause stomach upset (vomit, diarrhea, not eating) or pancreatitis. Since she seems fine I would recommend watching her closely for GI upset. I would also consider feeding her a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice for 3-5 days. I hope this helps!

Poor guy. Tea tree oil is a pretty nasty irritant to the stomach when ingested. You can try giving him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days, along with 1-2 tsp's of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling). I would also give him some non-flavored Pedialyte diluted with water to help prevent dehydration. If he is still having a hard time after another 24 hrs, then it is best to take him to your vet for stronger medication to help stop the nausea and treat his diarrhea with antibiotics. First of all, do not induce vomiting with this particular toxin, as it cause cause more damage by coming back up and Harley is at an increased risk of aspiration (going into her lungs). Side effects of petroleum product ingestion can include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, tremor, and coma, among other things. Ideally, I would advise immediate emergency veterinary care. If this is not reasonable, Harley needs to see a vet first thing in the morning. Dog's are very sensitive to the smells of essential oils, which is likely why she was trying to rub it off her face. You can try and wash her face with water and shampoo to remove it. I wouldn't expect any further problems with her, but it will be good to monitor her for the next 24 hours for any other problems. There can be some skin irritation, sneezing and coughing that's seen with essential oils. As long as the source of the smell is gone this shouldn't be an issue though.
