My dog yelped, shook, and peed, then seemed fine. Was it a seizure?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

This morning I was awoken up to Timmy yelping loudly and shaking a bit. I turned on the light to find a fresh new pile of not so runny poop and a small pile of pee. I found Timmy laying on his side (as he usually does when he sleeps), but was yelping and sort of shaking. It looked like something was happening to him that he couldn't control. It was very strange and very scary. I thought maybe he was having a seizure, but as of right now, he seems alert and is walking around like usual.

Hello,
I am glad Timmy seems to be better. His symptoms are concerning for a seizure, toxin exposure, allergic reaction, low blood sugar, liver disease and intestinal disease. Although Timmy seems to have made some Improvement, I would advise you to have him examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible and discuss bloodwork, fecal exam and x-rays if warranted. Also, write down what happened today so that you can keep a log of events in case Timmy experiences another episode.
