Why did my dog yelp suddenly then act normal? Is it serious?

Sometimes animals do dream so that could potentially be the cause. Also he could have very easily hurt himself but not seriously, for example if he got a dew claw caught on the bedding. If he seems back to normal I would simply monitor him, and you can always take him to a vet for an examination if you are concerned.

It could be her back or hips were painful when she got up, and that's why she squealed, but the pain stopped when she started moving around. I would keep an eye on her for now, and if she continues squealing when she gets up, I would have her checked out by a vet. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck.

Bear was probably just startled by your touch. If he is otherwise acting normal I would not be too concerned. If you notice any limping or lethargy you should probably take him to your vet to make sure nothingntoo serious is going on.

If only Milo could talk! This type of behavior could be related to something like anxiety or to pain/discomfort. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian who will check for evidence of pain on the physical exam. Many times this type of sudden pain is related to intervertebral disc disease, discospondylitis, upper abdominal pain or a pinched nerve. I am sorry Buddy was not feeling well/being vocal. Unfortunately based on the information you provided it is hard to give great information. Dogs can whine due to anxiety, nervous, pain, trauma, and even behavior. If Buddy is acting normal now I would continue to just keep a close eye on him and if he repeats this behavior consider taking him to a vet for a good exam. hope that helps

Poor Lily! If she yelps when she is touched in these areas, this is likely a sign that something is painful - even if she doesn't react when you examine her afterwards. She may have a pinched nerve, a herniated or "slipped" disc, or arthritis pain that could be causing her to do this. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam when you are able to - he/she can do x-rays if needed to help determine the problem and can also prescribe pain medication for her to help make her more comfortable.
