My dog vomits yellow, has discharge after pyometra surgery. Why?

Poor Layla! While it's normal for a dog to be more lethargic than usual, vomiting usually is not. But it could also be any medications she is on causing the vomiting as drugs like antibiotics cause GI upset. I would give her vet a call in the morning to let them know you are seeing these problems, and they will advise you if they want you to bring her in. I hope this helps.

It sounds as though Tillie may have an infection and may need a systemic antibiotic to help fight the infection. The sooner Tillie is seen by a veterinarian and put on a course of an oral antibiotic, the better and the less chances this infection has of becoming more severe. Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem. I agree that it would be an unusual coincidence to see two dogs in the same household get pyometra at the same time, but not impossible. It would help to know exactly what tests have been done and what the results were, in order to give an opinion on whether this is likely to be the problem or not. If Tillie does have a pyometra, then surgery would definitely be indicated. Survival isn't guaranteed, but in my experience the majority of dogs with pyometra do well with immediate surgery and hospitalization for IV fluids and supportive care.

Your poor pup! If she isn't spayed, I would be very concerned that she has a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment, and it would cause a white discharge as well as vomiting. It sounds like your vet may have been suspicious she had a pyometra and tried treating it medically with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Unfortunately the medical route often isn't successful, and surgery is needed to treat it. This means spaying her. I would take her back into the vet immediately, as this is a medical emergency. It's possible that you may need to refill your antibiotic prescription. Your doctor may be able to do this over the phone. It's possible that the original prescription or infection may have cause an imbalance in Hooka's stomach. If you notice any vomiting and diarrhea hasn't gone away over the next 24 hours, you might consider offering her a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice until it subsides.

The vomiting is very unlikely to be related to the surgeries and could perhaps be related to any post-operative medications that she is on (if that applies) or perhaps something unrelated. If she is on any medications, check with your veterinarian to see if these can be discontinued. Otherwise, have her evaluated by your veterinarian to check for any other possible causes like gastroenteritis. At the very least they can start her on anti-nausea medications.
