My puppy has yellow snot. When should I worry and take him to a vet?

It sounds like Stormy has an infection. I would recommend to take Stormy into the vet for an exam. The runny stool should be examined for worms and giardia and these treated if they are found. Puppies commonly get viruses and bacterial infections which should generally clear up with medications. I hope this helps!

Poor Loki! From what you're describing and the appearance of his nasal discharge, it sounds like he has a pretty nasty respiratory infection. He will need prescription antibiotics to treat his infection, so I would recommend taking him to the vet tomorrow morning if possible. In the meantime, you can use a warm washcloth to gently clean off the nasal discharge to make it easier for him to breathe. You could also try bringing him into the bathroom with you while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity often help to break up nasal congestion and may make him feel a bit better until you are able to see the vet.

Poor Nova! I am sorry to hear that she is not feeling well. It sounds as though Nova may have an upper respiratory infection. She should definitely be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, especially since she is so young. Because she is a puppy her immune system is not completely developed making her more susceptible to illness. We want to make sure that a veterinarian evaluates her before her symptoms progress, as it is much easier on all parties involved to get her symptoms under control early rather than waiting until she is severely ill. The veterinarian can prescribe the appropriate medications to get Nova feeling better and being a puppy. Unfortunately there is nothing over the counter to remedy this; however, until you can get her in to be seen you can steam up the bathroom and sit in there with Nova for about 5-10 mins to give her some relief. This will only help give her some relief from the stuffy nose. She ultimately needs to be seen by a vet to clear up things for good. I hope this was helpful and that Nova gets better very soon.

Poor Jake. If the snot is green or yellow in color then he will need to see a vet because this is an upper respiratory secondary bacterial infection. A short course of antibiotics should clear this up as long as he doesn't have any other complications. If he is having a hard time breathing you can use a humidifier or place him in the bathroom with the shower running for about 10 minutes to help moisturizer his nasal passage and break up some of the mucous until you can get him seen by your vet. Also offering him slightly warmed cans of wet dog food can entice him to eat if his appetite has decreased somewhat. After he is better I would make it a point to get his Bordetella vaccine done every 6 months to help protect him from upper respiratory infections in the future. It could be a cold that he caught from dog camp. I would recommend taking Atlas to a veterinarian since he may need antibiotics especially with the kind of nasal discharge he is having. At the veterinarian they will also listen to his lungs to make sure they are clear and he doesn't have bronchitis or starting with pneumonia. If the discharge is clear then give it a few days to see if it resolves on its own, because it is possible this is just allergic rhinitis. If the clear draingae is severe, then you can also call your vet to see if they can recommend antihistamines for Panda to try. However if the discharge is any other color, then it's best to take Panda in to your vet for treatment because an infection is likely present, requiring the use of antibiotics to clear things up.
