Old dog has yellow eyes, vomiting, won't eat. How to ease suffering?

Oh my. This sounds like a possible severe condition. I suspect Sweep may have a condition called Addison's disease, liver disease, or even a coagulation problem. The vet will run some bloodwork to hopefully help make the diagnosis quickly so that he receives proper treatment. I do hope that you are truly on your way to the vet even if they are far away. Addison's disease can be treated successfully in most cases with steroid therapy, fluids, and supportive care. A coagulation problem may be treatable depending on the underlying condition, and liver disease may or may not treatable depending on the underlying cause. Poor Ginger! I would take her into a vet now. It can be very serious when a senior dog is vomiting, not eating, and is extremely lethargic. She needs veterinary are now, please take her into a vet right away. Best of luck.

Since she is vomiting, acting lethargic, not eating and having neurological signs, I would have her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Especially in an older Golden, cancer is a top differential for the cause of her clinical signs. Your veterinarian will want to do a complete physical exam, along with bloodwork and/or x-rays to look for evidence of disease. Because she is coughing, I'm afraid she may have cancer in her lungs, or less likely something like pneumonia. Unfortunately, you may have to consider thinking about her quality of life. Vomiting, coughing, not eating and being unresponsive to stimuli are not indicative of a good quality of life. I hope this is helpful, and I'm very sorry to hear about Booda.

It sounds as Johnny is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Sorry to hear that Mavis hasn't been feeling too well. There is no telling whether or not the eye problem is actually related to the other issues you are reporting. Certainly it sounds like the eye is irritated, which can cause enough pain and discomfort to make a dog not want to eat or move around. The vomiting, however, indicates that there is something else happening relating to the GI tract. Even if this were just an eye issue, I would definitely suggest you take Mavis in to the veterinarian to verify there is no corneal ulcer (treatment can not safely be commenced until this has been determined). While there, they will be able to assess Mavis fully for any and all other issues. In the meantime, at home you can check her temperature (99.5-102.5), gum moisture / color, and skin elasticity. I'm concerned that Shin is sick and that he could have something serious going on like diabetes, kidney failure, liver disease, heart disease, or cancer causing him to not eat, lose weight, and vomit. He sounds extremely sick and he needs to see a vet immediately. I'd take him into one now for a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis. Please take him into a vet now. Best of luck.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The blood test was only for red and white cell morphology, it does not give any information about kidneys function. Please, get in touch with your vet as Christie needs a blood test called 'biochemistry' to check her kidney values, blood glucose level, liver enzymes etc. Excessive drinking and vomiting can be related to uterine infection (if Christie has not been neutered), kidney disease, liver problems, diabetes, tumor development and more. Christie really needs a blood test and ideally ultrasound scan or x-ray of the abdomen to find out what the problem is.
