My dog's wound is almost healed from home care. Any concerns?

The wound actually looks very good. Make sure it does not get contaminated with dirt. You need to keep your dog from licking the wound as the licking may get it infected with bacteria. Should the wound start to ooze or show pus, you should have it examined by a vet who will then give you an antibiotic ointment to alleviate that.

You can continue disinfection at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily for the next 4 days. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. It is best not bandage as the healing will be much quicker. If the lesion do not resolve in 4 days time a check up will be needed as antibiotics may be required. It seems your vet did and prescribed all what was necessary as a first approach. How long has been on treatment for? It might be too early to see any improvement though. Difficult to guess any possible cause other than a traumatic injury without seeing at least a picture of it. Thank you for providing pictures of Zephyr's wound! It looks like there may be some scab formation already on the wound, so I would leave it be for now. My concern is that there are some areas on the wound that look a little red and I would have it checked out by a vet on Monday to be safe. The wound could be infected, and she would need antibiotics to treat it if it is. Keep her from licking at the wound by putting an Ecollar on her. This is a large and deep wound that should have been surgically closed. It is going to take a very long time to close on its own without surgery. You will have to keep it clean and prevent him from licking or rubbing it. Amoxicillin is not a very good antibiotic for preventing infection in a wound such as this. If it begins to have drainage, odor, etc. I would highly recommend getting a different and more appropriate antibiotic. I’m not sure how old the wound is, but it does look like you have kept it relatively clean. It would be a good idea to get the hair away from the wound edges if possible.
