Is it safe to bathe or groom my dog after a recent wound?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 8 years and 7 months old | 21.4 lbs

My pup has a wound on his hip..the result of a deer attack. The hole is the size of a dime. He has been seen by his vet and was treated. However, I forgot to ask if it is safe to have the dog bathed and groomed. I would like your opinion. Thank you!

Although a picture would help to give you more specific advices, generally speaking I would recommend to wait until the lesion is completely resolved before having him groomed and bathed.
