Hello. My dog got pus removed from his back. Doctors left the wound open by attaching rubber band inside it so that the wound woud not seal up and any left out pus would go away. They said that my dog should bleed but im concerned if he should bleed so much. Thank you for your answer.

It is normal for the site to bleed a little and drain after surgery, and will continue to drain for 3-5 days until the drain itself is removed. Keeping the area clean and dry is best to prevent irritation to the surrounding the skin. If the drainage doesn't decrease over time, turns green or yellowish, is very painful to your dog, or your dog is very lethargic, has pale gums or tongue, or is ill, then bringing him back into the vet ASAP for additional care is best.
