My dog has worms and bloody stool. Can I treat all my pets at home?

You can pick up Panacur at a pet store, it's a very good deworming treatment. It's a three day course of treatment, and you will need to give Brian and Peach a second treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. If this does not help with the diarrhea and blood, they will need to see the vet. Best of luck.

It depends on how much blood Tiger may be losing and if this is truly from diarrhea being caused by the parasites. If a diagnosis of parasites was established and you are giving the deworming as instructed by a veterinarian then it would be reasonable to see if this was just a one time episode of bloody stool and to have him examined if it continues. However, if a diagnosis has not been established by a veterinarian, I think it would be best to have a veterinarian look at Tiger as this diarrhea and bloody stools may be unrelated to parasites in which case it is not going to improve with the dewormer. A small amount of blood can be expected not as a result of the deworming per se but more as an effect of the worms that are likely there. If if it just a small amount of possibly blood in the stools, I would continue to monitor him for now. If no improvement is noted within a few days, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Severe intestinal parasite infections can be lethal. Bleeding means that blood vessels are open, and bacteria from the gut can enter the blood stream and cause sepsis which can be lethal too. All you need to do is a) have a fecal test done at your vet and b) get a wormer after you know which worms he finds, or giardia. Treatment is not expensive.

Hello, depending on which medications she has, side effects may include GI signs such as the ones you saw this morning. If she continues to have blood her stool contact your veterinarian in the morning. However, if she develops profuse watery and bloody diarrhea with other GI signs such as vomiting and inappetence then she should be seen by an emergency veterinarian. I am concerned Mooshi may have a serious viral infection as well as an abundant of worms. Since he is so small and easily dehydrated I would strongly encourage to take him to your vet for an exam. Your vet can assess his hydration, do a fecal to figure out the type of worms and dewormer he needs and whether he needs any additional medicine to combat the vomiting, lethargy and diarrhea. Dogs with parvo will poop blood, but worms are not part of the parvovirus. Now dogs with parvo could have worms at the same time, causing them to poop blood with worms. Koko needs to see a vet immediately if he's pooping blood. Best of luck.
