My dog won't eat new kibble after vomiting. Is he sick or picky?

Hello, sorry to hear about Cooper. Theres a chance he is sore from his vomiting and/or he got used to eating a soft diet that this is what he prefers currently. I would give him a week or so to allow everything to settle and see if he return to his normal behavior. It would be rare that a dog would make a connection between its food and vomiting. Some dogs tend to be picky eaters and learn to wait to eat until tastier food is offered. I'd recommend seeing a veterinarian to rule out a medical problem that could be causing a decrease in appetite and make sure he is maintaining his weight. If everything checks out, it is okay to offer food and wait a day or even two - he'll eat when he's hungry!

I recommend taking her to the vet with a fresh stool sample to rule out intestinal parasites first. She may also need X-rays to rule out an obstruction. I would stop feeding her the human foods as she is likely to hold out for those vs eating her puppy food diet. You can try adding canned puppy food to her dry food to get her more intested. As long as there are no health concerns she will eat when she's hungry. Right now, you are caving to her before she caves and eats and is therefore promoting a picky behavior. If she's healthy, I would get tough about what you offer her. She won't starve. Good luck and kisses to Daisy!

It sounds as Molu is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Keep him on boiled rice and chicken for 2-3 days, it might still be related to the anesthesia he went through, if it doesn't resolve in 3 days, take him back to the vet to get it checked and treated.

Hello. Unfortunately, many dogs are greedy eaters & do not chew their food, but even so, most do not vomit it back up. I would definitely give a wet food a try & see how he does with this. You might also try using Science Diet Sensitive Stomach. If he continues to vomit weekly, which is just too frequently to be ignored, you really should consider having Marco examined. You do not mention his age, but there are certain conditions & problems that may be at fault here, such as a condition called megaesophagus, or even a hiatal hernia. This may also be a true food allergy, so trying a hypoallergenic diet consisting of hydrolyzed proteins may help. See how he does with the wet food & go from there. It's probably because he doesn't like the food anymore, try to switch to a new brand and see if he finishes his meal first, if it's the same with the new food then take him to the vet in order to get it checked.
