My dog won't eat, has diarrhea, and ear pain. What should I do?

Based on your description, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Chica so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. She may have an infection that needs medical attention. The sooner she is seen the better. If she has been having diarrhea, she may be dehydrated which would explain why she is not eating, if she is feeling lethargic / sick. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Your information doesn't say how old she is. If a young puppy then I would go in immediately. If an adult, then fasting food for 12 hours, then offering a bland diet of Boiled chicken and rice. If she won't eat, if she begins vomiting, or if there is blood in her bowel movement then she should be seen. Or at any time if she seems to be getting worse. I hope she improves soon. It sounds like she needs to be examined and treated by a vet right away. She may be getting dehydrated and need some fluids, either subcutaneously or intravenously. Your vet can also run some blood work and other tests to help determine the cause and evaluated the function of all her organs. It is very concerning that she is not eating and is very weak. I don't think this is something that should be treated at home with OTC medications. If she has a gum infection then she may need an antibiotic to treat the infection. Call your vet or take her to an emergency clinic for treatment. Hope she feels better soon!

Chutu should be examined by the veterinarian today. Any pet that is not eating beyond 24 hours should be examined and treated by the veterinarian. Just like humans, pets can get sick for many reasons and some of these reasons are very serious and can become fatal without treatment. Because pets can't talk, it's very important to have them examined since this is the only way to begin knowing what's wrong. Best of luck.

Not eating or more than just a day is definitely concerning, particularly if this is highly unusual and she's turning away things like chicken. I would be concerned about some sort of infectious or inflammatory process going on, a primary or secondary gastrointestinal issue, or one of her organ systems (liver or kidney) acting up in some fashion. If she also isn't taking anything to drink, I would definitely be worrying about dehydration setting in. If she hasn't taken anything for you by the morning, get her into the veterinarian for a check up. Unless they are able to make a determination which is obvious based on physical exam, they will want to likely run some diagnostic blood work and perhaps imaging. Hope this makes sense.

If Chuchi is acting normally and isn't vomiting for having diarrhea I would try to add warm water to her food or 1 tablespoon of canned food mixed with water on her food. Sometimes dogs hold out for something better or tastier to come along, but most healthy dogs won't choose starvation. Try a few things then set a schedule for eating. Feed her in a quiet room, give her an hour of quiet time to eat then remove the food until the next meal. You didn't indicate how long she hasn't been eating. If it has been more than 2 days I would have her seen by a Vet to be sure nothing medical is going on. I hope this helps and I wish you and Chuchi the best!

Poor girl. Dolly sounds like she has a severe illness going on. She could potentially even have pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas that is more common in smaller breed dogs. I would highly recommend getting her seen by your vet asap for a pancreatitis test and bloodwork to get an overall health assessment so that we know what medication she needs specifically to get her feeling better. When pets are ill, it is almost impossible to force them to eat, especially if they are nauseous, so it's imperative to get her seen right away. If you are not able to get her in today, then you can offer her some boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese, but it is best to get her seen quickly so that her condition doesn't get any worse.
