Is it safe for my dog to play outside with wildfire smoke in the air?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 19 days old | 87 lbs

So I live in Wyoming and a lot of the haze from the fires in California and surrounding areas has been blowing into our state so you can smell the smoke in the air and it's hazy now is it safe for my dog to be playing outside and this as in taking them out for running or the dog park

I would recommend not taking him to the dog park. I have seen a lot of dog's come in with irritated eyes when there were wildfires last time. It can bother their eyes and lungs. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
