My dog throws up white drool, swollen glands, tests found nothing. Why?

hy my 2.5 year old cairn terrier hav a problem-she throws up white drool it can be 5-20 times a day also her Salivary glands swollen ,red eyes &tears she started barking very strangely like trying to push something out by barking(not a behavioral problem)her mouth is full of saliva& every effort& excitement or a hot weather make her start barking & throwing up the dog is in pain wen it happens (she eat drinks)we did an ultrasound to her stomach & endoscopia blood test nothing found h e l p

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! What you describe does sound concerning. You mentioned that the salivary glands are enlarged so this could something like salivary mucoceles though they are usully just unilateral so being both would be unusual. The other thing is making sure that it is not the mandibular lymph nodes that are enlarged in which case it may be something completely different. I think ideally a CT scan of that region is performed though if unable to you could consider an ultrasound lf the neck. Even before that, it would be helpful to sample that affected area via fine needle aspiration as this would help to rule in or out a salivary mucocele and help determine what this enlargement/swelling is. The red eyes could also represent uveitis so a close examination would be recommended. Good luck!

Also, I would be concerned that it could be something called a sialocele which is essentially an accumulation of salivary fluid. Also, it could be an enlarged lymph node secondary to an infectious condition or even cancer. The recommended test remains the same. It is a fine needle aspirate to be submitted to a reference laboratory for cytologic analysis. This can help clarify all the things that I have discussed. Good luck!

Why is my dog suddenly thin, weak, and drooling thick saliva?

Drooling can be a sign of nausea which can be caused by many conditions primarily gastrointestinal in nature such gastroenteritis and gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. You could try a bland diet composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice which is easily digestible and can help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!

Why is my dog lethargic with a swollen neck gland and not eating?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Luca! How old is Luca? He could have a swollen lymph node or salivary gland. A swollen salivary gland can indicate an infection, an obstruction or inflammation. An enlarged lymph node can indicate an infection or lymphoma (cancer) the swelling could also be a foreign body that migrated from him mouth (piece of stick for example). Luca needs an exam by a Vet, I would have him seen Monday. I wish you the best!

My dog won't eat, drinks excessively, and has jaw/throat lumps.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bailey! Bailey needs to see your vet ASAP tomorrow. The most common reason for the swelling under his jaw are enlarged lymph nodes. With the increased thirst and swelling under his neck I am concerned he has a cancer called Lymphoma. He will need a physical exam and blood work. The most common cause of increased thirst with lymphoma is an increased calcium. Other causes for the swelling under his neck could be an allergic reaction, swollen salivary glands or lymph nodes that are swollen from something else other than cancer (reactive to something in his mouth or ears). The facial dropping sounds neurologic. 2 weeks is a long time to not eat. I would call tuesday when your Vet opens to get an appointment. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. However, with the vomiting described I would be suspicious of something gastrointestinal in nature such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, among other possibilities. That does not explain the swollen chin and that may be due to some traumatic injury. This may all be due to a toxicity of some sort for example. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Peanut evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated.
