Why is my cat drooling, vomiting, with swollen chin and dilated eyes?

You mentioned that the salivary glands are enlarged so this could something like salivary mucoceles though they are usully just unilateral so being both would be unusual. The other thing is making sure that it is not the mandibular lymph nodes that are enlarged in which case it may be something completely different. I think ideally a CT scan of that region is performed though if unable to you could consider an ultrasound lf the neck. Even before that, it would be helpful to sample that affected area via fine needle aspiration as this would help to rule in or out a salivary mucocele and help determine what this enlargement/swelling is. The red eyes could also represent uveitis so a close examination would be recommended. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Steluta!! I agree, the most common reason for the swelling is likely an insect bite or other allergic reaction. If the chin is still swollen tomorrow or her attitude and eating habits change have her seen tomorrow by your Vet. The mainstay of treating allergic reactions are steroids in cats. I recommend getting your pet in to be seen by your veterinarian right away. Vomiting and lethargy together are very concerning and can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance as well as low blood sugar. The swollen eye may or may not have anything to do with the vomiting. He could be having an allergic reaction. He might have eaten something that either disagreed with him or something that has gotten stuck somewhere in his gastrointestinal tract. He could be sore from a hidden injury you are unaware of, he could have been exposed to some sort of toxin or irritant in his environment or this could be early signs of another condition or disease process. Your pet may need IV fluids to help support his/her system and to be fasted at the same time in order to give the gut a rest. Your vet can do an exam, blood work and possibly x-rays to determine the cause of the illness and suggest an effective treatment plan.

Although a picture of it would help to determine the underlying cause more specifically, this presentation seems to be likely related to a tooth abscess/infection. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed. Hello, it looks like an abscess, probably a tooth abscess, it's an emergency as he is not eating, take him to the emergency vet as soon as you can today, the abscess will need to be drained under anesthesia first, then a course of antibiotics will be given.

Hi and thanks for your post this evening! Swelling of the face and drooling can be a sign of a severe dental infection. I would have Harry's seen by a veterinarian soon so he can get an oral exam done. If a dental infection is suspected, Harry may be dental surgery to remove a tooth or teeth. Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Google evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated.
