My dog has white discharge after heat. Should I be worried?

I am concerned that your dog may have a uterine infection which can be life threatening. White discharge after being in heat is not normal and can point to this. Since she is lethargic and not feeling very well I would take her back to the vet for a recheck.

This could be normal with nothing to worry about. If the discharge thickens, becomes yellow/green, or even a pink tinged color then I would be concerned about a vaginitis or pyometra. Pyometra could be life threatening if left untreated. Any of the above that you listed are possible causes for white discharge from the vagina. If there is small amounts and it is not particularly thick, it is unlikely that there is an infection. More likely that it is an indicator of the time in the estrous cycle or an indicator of early pregnancy.
