Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Male | neutered | 13 years and 1 month old | 8 lbs
My 13 year old chihuahua started a wheezing/gagging five days ago. It’s worse when he eats and when he tries to play with his ball, but continues all day unless he’s relaxed and/or sleeping. He hasn’t been around any other dogs for months. Should I be worried or wait a while longer to see if he gets better?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
My biggest concerns for Peanut would be either heart disease, collapsing trachea, or an infectious bronchotracheitis could be present.
I recommend you have a visit to the vet. If heart disease is present this might be an early warning sign (one we often don't get), and if ignored Peanut could get very very sick quickly.
Hopefully it is nothing, but any cough in a small breed dog that is a bit older should NOT be ignored.
Best of luck with Peanut!
