Hello, sorry to hear about Zorro. Based on what you are describing, I suspect he could have neck or back pain. This is commonly caused by a slipped disk, however a full physical and neurologic exam are needed to confirm this suspicioun. Additionally, other things such as pancreatitis may cause abdominal pain and this is commonly accompanied by a loss of appetite, vomiting, and occasionally diarrhea. Please have zorro seen by your veterinarian soon if he is not getting better or if he is getting worse. Monitor for progressive lethargy, vomiting, or even diarrhea. Additionally, monitor him for dragging his fore or back limbs, progressive pain around his neck or back. If you note any of these then have him evaluated immediately. If he is unable to stand, this may be a sign of an injury such as a fractured bone, or it could be neurological, such as a slipped disc in his spine or a head injury. Was there any trauma that occurred shortly before these symptoms appeared? In any case, this sounds serious and I would get him seen at a vet right away. In the meantime, try to protect him from injuring himself by giving him a soft bed to lie on and padding around him, and provide his food and water close by. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. It is possible that Zuca is dealing with a systemic illness / infection, dietary indiscretion or GI disease. It is possible that he ingested something that is toxic as well. With these symptoms, I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I'm sorry to hear that Oscar isn't feeling well. The symptoms you describe are very concerning to me. It may be that he has a neurologic disease, or (especially if he's older) he may a tumor which has started to cause some internal bleeding. Though his gums are pink, this is still possible. Is there any chance he got into something in terms of a possible toxin? If he will get up and walk to you, and he responds to his name each time, and will eat and drink; it is reasonable to wait until morning if you don't have a vet emergency center near you. If he is unable to rise on his own, if he won't respond to his name, if he's vomiting, seems painful, or if he seems to be getting worse at all, please seek an emergency veterinarian. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am so sorry that Ace is not feeling well. I would suspect that he has picked up a bit of an infection. The quivering could be a sign that he is running a fever. Being a dachshund, I would also be concerned that he has injured his back as we see a lot on Intervertebral Disc Disease in this breed. If you have the ability to have Ace evaluated by your veterinarian, a diagnosis can be made & he proper treatment started to get Ace feeling better as soon as possible. I hope all is well soon.
