My dog's hind legs are weak after a tick bite. Is it tick paralysis?

Poor guy. : ( It sounds like he may have a severe reaction to the ticks or any number of underlying problems such as tick paralysis. He needs to go to a vet pronto for some much needed antibiotics to hopefully help stabilize his condition. I would recommend consulting with your vet for antibiotics (i.e. Doxycycline) and pain medication (i.e. Gabapentin) to help poor Max. That tick looks pretty engorged so it may have been feeding on Spike for a bit. He could have a tick borne disease like Lyme disease causing his symptoms. I'd take him into a vet immediately to get checked out. Best of luck.

This is a medical emergency, and Chance needs to see a vet now. It could be he has a ruptured disc in his back causing the sudden paralysis. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Remove all the ticks, as they can transmit diseases which can also cause a disease called tick paralysis. The paralysis of the front leg could have several causes. Saly may have been hit by a car or kicked, which caused nerve damage. She may have a fracture in the leg or shoulder which keeps her from walking on the leg. Sometimes tumors can cause this too. I cannot pinpoint where in Iran you live, so I do not know whether there are any veterinarians available in your area, If there is a vet please take Saly for an exam.

Oh goodness. My initial thoughts are to comb his whole body, including looking in his ears for a tick- as occasionally their saliva can cause tick paralysis. I would also consider getting an MRI if one is available. Encephalitis due to parasites, immune disorders, or cancers are on my list, as is a disorder called Coonhound paralysis. I'm sorry to hear that Kirou has not been feeling well. The swelling on her muzzle is certainly quite prominent. Lameness that shifts between different legs and joints is most commonly caused by tick-borne diseases (such as lyme disease), but could also be due to immune-mediated or other infectious diseases. At this point, Kirou should go back to her vet for a recheck and some diagnostic testing. Blood tests are available to determine if tick borne diseases are present. If extra fluid is palpable in any of her joints, the vet may need to draw out a sample for analysis. Biopsies may also be needed of the lesions on her muzzle. Kirou's clinical signs are a bit unusual and will require some testing to get to the bottom of the issue. I hope that she's on the mend soon!

I am not sure of your location, but also make sure to check Dexter thoroughly for the presence of ticks. Tick paralysis can present in a similar fashion and is typically non-painful. Removal of the tick and supportive care results in a full recovery majority of the time. Another potential is coondog paralysis if Dexter has had any contact with a raccoon recently. As everyone else has stated, there is always the potential for an infectious or inflammatory CNS disease, trauma, or a congenital abnormality. He may need more advanced diagnostic imaging (CT scan, MRI) and CSF tap to obtain a definitive diagnosis. Most of these diagnostics are performed by board-certified veterinary neurologists.
