Puppy's ears are warm, but she's playful. Is this normal or a cold?

This temperature is normal for a dog. Their normal body temperature is 99-102.5 Fahrenheit. He does not have a fever so no need to give him medication. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Normal dog temperature is 100-102.5. If he has a fever, I would take him to a vet to determine why. If he doesn’t, you can offer him ice cubes or soft rubber toys for the teething. I'm sorry Maisy isn't feeling well at the moment. Don't worry about the temperature of her nose, as it's not considered a sign of illness in dogs. That's because a dog's nose can change from cold to warm just by sitting next to a heat source or lying in the sun. The sneezing could be caused by a respiratory infection or allergies. I would monitor Maisy for now, and should the sneezing continue over the next 24-48 hours, she become lethargic, her appetite diminishes, and/or she develops other signs, I would have her seen by a vet.

A dogs normal body temp is 101-102.5 so they will feel warm to us normally. You can use a rectal thermometer if you want to assess her temperature. If you feel she is worsening despite medication I recommend a veterinary visit. Do not give any human fever reducers as they are toxic to dogs. If she had kennel cough or an upper respiratory infection it can occasionally progress to pneumonia so Augustine needs a recheck with a vet if she is not improving I hope Augustine feels better soon. A warm nose and warm ears are very nonspecific findings and I would pay more attention to his overall attitude, behavior and appetite. (A "dry nose" indicating that a dog is sick is also a myth). It sounds like he is playful, and eating and drinking well, so I would not be concerned. As long as he continues to act normally and have normal urination and bowel movements, and no vomiting, it sounds like he is well on the road to recovery! I hope this is helpful!

I love the name Forrest! Red or warm ears alone, with no signs of itching, infection, debris or illness, would not worry me. If he was having heavy panting or his exercise tolerance was decreased, I may want to do further investigation however. I hope this helps!
