Why is my dog vomiting, losing weight, and fur dull but acts normal?

Those are all very general signs of illness, and I would be concerned there is a GI issue or underlying illness if she is both losing hair and unable to keep food down/losing weight. Parasites, obstructions, viral illnesses, infections, organ issues, metabolic diseases, etc can all be potential causes, so it would be best to seek out veterinary care from your vet or an ER clinic as soon as possible.

Hi. Sorry honey isn't feeling well. Being lethargic, quiet, and vomiting can occur for alot of different diseases or conditions. It can be from a dietary indiscretion, a food sensitivity, a GI infection,  pancreatitis, metabolic and endocrine conditions, foreign bodies in the intestines, and more.   The best thing for vomiting would be to get him seen and try to get to the bottom of the cause.  But he will need an exam and some diagnostics.  In the meantime, you can try a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice for 3-5 days, then slowly change back to her regular diet if doing well. The hair loss can be caused by bacterial infections, allergies, metabolic, or endocrine diseases. Your veterinarian may do some bloodwork to check for those conditions and also some skin testing. Good luck.

Oh my - it sounds as though Riley has a lot going on. It's likely that his excessive licking is associated with the hair loss that you've noticed, as licking is a sign of itchiness in dogs. I agree that his whining sounds like a sign of discomfort. This could all be associated with his other issues, or due to other skin conditions, like mange, ringworm, or allergies. Vomiting, diarrhea, weight gain, and excessive urination could be due to a number of different health conditions. Some of these possibilities include gastrointestinal viruses, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney disease, liver disease, endocrine disorders (such as Addison's disease), or food allergies. The challenge is that all of these conditions are treated very differently, so it's important to figure out the root cause of all of Riley's issues. At this point, Riley really needs to be examined by his vet and have some diagnostic testing performed. I assume that your vet will likely recommend some baseline bloodwork to check on his organ function, as well as a fecal flotation test for parasites, and skin testing to see if any infectious conditions are present. Based on their findings, they'll be able to come up with the best course of treatment for Riley. I hope that everything goes well!

I would have your Vet take belly X-rays, deworm him and then I would change his food to a new protein source or a prescription food. If he doesn't have something stuck or worms then it is possible he has a food allergy. Another thought it to test for Addison's disease, which is decreased steroid production from the adrenal glands. It can cause weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite. I hope this helps!

Poor guy. With him being this ill and it lasting through the night, the best course of action is to take Shaggy to your vet to get examined and treated. The vet will need to do a complete physical exam and likely some testing (i.e. bloodwork) to help diagnose the underlying problem so that we know how best to help Shaggy moving forward. Just about every disease can cause these symptoms, so it is hard to say what the possible cause is, but the vet should be able to gather more information after you go in. Poor guy. Scrappy sounds like he is in pretty bad shape. Based on his severe symptoms I would highly recommend taking him to your nearest vet right away for some testing and treatment depending on his underlying illness. Some possible causes of vomiting, weight loss, appetite and liquid stool are parvovirus, foreign body obstruction or a bacterial infection. The vet will likely start with a parvovirus test (especially if Scrappy is not fully vaccinated), and additional testing if needed. Puppies can get dehydrated very quickly when they are both vomiting and having loose stool. Once we know what is going on with Scrappy, we will know how to treat him and hopefully get him well again. Until you can get him in you should offer him plenty of water and perhaps even Pedialyte (non-flavored) diluted with water and a liquid diet (Ensure) can be tried in small amounts. I hope your puppy Scrappy is able to make a full and speedy recovery. Take care.

Weight loss can be a sign of intestinal worms, organ dysfunction or disease (pancreatic insufficiency, liver shunts, kidney disease, liver inflammation/infection, etc.), food allergies or poor diet, and many other conditions. Hair loss can be due to parasites (mange, fleas, etc.), hypothyroidism, allergies (food or environment), immune diseases, etc. Given that Kalu is 2 years old, I would start by getting him dewormed and also get a product that treats for fleas, ticks and mange. See if his problems resolve. If they do not, then see your vet about testing. Best of luck with Kalu!
