Poor Diesel! Benedryl may not be enough since he is showing more severe symptoms. It's also possible the vomiting and diarrhea is unrelated to a spider bite but that's hard to say without an exam. Sometimes these pets will need steroids in addition to an antihistamine. I recommend to call your veterinarian. They may want to have Diesel examined by the veterinarian who can provide appropriate medication for an allergic reaction and also for the vomiting and diarrhea. They may also instruct you further about antihistamines (pharmacy law prohibits online veterinarians from discussing human medication usage in pets). It's best to play it safe. I agree that the area itself will likely take a long time to heal, however, if he is vomiting and having a lethargy (systemic signs) then this is more concerning for an infection that may be spreading to other parts of his body. There is a high possibility that his vomiting and decreased appetite is associated with his wound and infection, but there are also other causes for these clinical signs as well.
