My 9-year-old overweight lab is vomiting, has diarrhea, and looks in pain.

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old | 77.1 lbs

Hi my dog has been ill the past week and the padt two days she has been vomiting and diarrhoea she also is not eating anuthing for the past week and looks in pain she is a chocy lab and is 9 this year and is really overweight

Poor Tilly! It sounds like she’s quite sick. There are many different things that can cause these symptoms, so it’s hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her and do some testing. Some possibilities would include a GI problem like pancreatitis or an intestinal blockage, a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, or ingestion of something toxic.

This sounds quite serious, so I would recommend taking Tilly to an emergency vet today for an exam. The doctor there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment right away.

Poor pup! Labs are notorious for eating things they should not, and she could have a foreign body causing her symptoms. It could also be she has a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have pancreatitis. Since she is not eating or drinking as well as vomiting, I would take her into a vet now. My rescue dog is vomiting and won't eat dry food. What's wrong?

It sounds as Tilly is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

It sounds like Nestle is pretty sick, but unfortunately vomiting can be a sign of a number of different diseases. I’d recommend having Nestle examined by a veterinarian today. This could be a sign of diseases like pancreatitis or kidney disease, or even a partial intestinal obstruction. If she continues to vomit she will probably become dehydrated.
