Dog vomiting, diarrhea, not drinking: Is it time for the vet?

It sounds as Fify is suffering from a serious gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need to have an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Any dog which is weak with dehydratin requires fluid therapy, most likely by intravenous drip alongside treatment for the vomiting and diarrhea. Oral electrolyte solutions and medications are not sufficient if she is vomiting frequently as she will not absorb them. l strongly recommend you schedule an urgent vet check for her

Yes, any pet that has persistent signs especially vomiting and diarrhea should be evaluated immediately. Once dehydration and electrolyte imbalance develop, they will just continue to get weaker and weaker unless treated. Reasons for vomiting/diarrhea are many and range from intestinal problems or problems with other organs in the body causing the signs. Intestinal worms, dietary indiscretion (eating things she is not supposed to eat), dietary intolerance/sensitivity, a foreign body (especially in younger dogs), infection, inflammation, toxins, pancreatitis, kidney/liver problems, etc. Your vet can do a physical exam and some tests which could include a fecal exam, blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, etc. to try to determine what is causing the problem. Once a diagnosis is made they will advise a treatment plan to address the issue. Your vet can also address the itching of her muzzle and whining which may or may not be related. I hope this is just temporary and it resolves quickly for you and Moka.

Yes, i do think that Duffy needs to see the vet. Young dogs with gastrointestinal signs can have a number of problems of varying severity - anything from intestinal parasites to the very serious GI infection parvovirus to a foreign object lodged in the GI tract. She's been vomiting nearly 24 hours and by this point has likely lost considerable fluids and electrolytes, so yes, I would get her in today and get the problem diagnosed and treated appropriately.

Regardless of whether you feel the vets in your town are "bad," Pitt needs medical attention. Not getting help for her is as troubling as suggesting the vets "don't care if animals die." If Pitt were a child with vomiting, diarrhea, and now rectal bleeding, I certainly hope you would take her to a doctor, even if you felt he or she wasn't the best in the town. So, pick the best of the "bad" vets and take Pitt in immediately. She may have eaten something, have a virus or bacterial infection, or be suffering from something more serious. The longer you wait, the more dehydrated and compromised she will become and the more treatment she will require to make her healthy again. I think it is unlikely that she has distemper and also unlikely that your other dog could get it. Don't wait - good luck and I hope Pitt gets better soon!

Poor girl. I think at this point (>24 hrs of being ill) because she isn't getting any better you should consider taking her in to your vet. This may just still be a really upset stomach, but she needs to see your vet and have her vitals and physical exam done to determine if she should have further testing done to look for other possible causes (i.e. liver, kidney disease) for her illness.
