My schnauzer is throwing up and has diarrhea while in heat. What now?

I would recommend taking Roxy to the vet today. Schnauzers are a breed prone to developing Addison's disease, which could be life-threatening if left untreated. Another possible cause could be hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, which can also cause death. Hello there. I am sorry the Gustuf is not feeling well. I recommend taking him to the veterinarian as soon as you can. He could have an upset stomach, but he could have something more serious, like pancreatitis or infection. They may need to take some bloodwork or x-rays to determine the cause of his sickness. It sounds as Frio is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

These are not normal symptoms associated with being in heat, so I would be concerned about some other illness. If she hasn't eaten in several days and is still vomiting, I would recommend taking her to the emergency vet. She is likely very dehydrated at this point, and we need to figure out what is causing the nausea.

I would recommend taking him to the veterinarian now. My concern is that Pepper has been vomiting for what sounds like awhile and is now lethargic and yelping. This may be pancreatitis, this can be a foreign body or it may just be a simple gastrointestinal upset. If it is something more serious it should be treated sooner than later. Based on your description, you say she may be in heat, yet the Pet's info section it states that she is unspayed. If she is not spayed, she could be dealing with something called a pyometra, which is when the uterus fills with pus. This can be a life threatening condition. I would strongly recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Please refrain from giving any antibiotics until you have spoken with a veterinarian that has examined her. I hope this helps!

I am so sorry to hear that Coco is not well! I would also be concerned if she is vomiting and not feeling well. It is possible it is related to her intact status- uterine infections, for example, can cause you to be very ill. It is also possible that it is unrelated- viruses, dietary indiscretion and foreign bodies are also examples of common causes of vomiting. It would be safest to take her in and have an exam done and possibly other tests to see if there is an underlying cause that can be remedied. I hope it is nothing too serious!
