My dog threw up, now has diarrhea. Bland diet not helping, what to do?

At this point, I would be concerned that there is something else ongoing if a bland diet didn't help, and his symptoms are still ongoing several days after ingestion/the initial vomiting and diarrhea. It would be best to bring Champ to your vet ASAP to see if there is another underlying cause that needs to be addressed.

As long as Scout is bright, alert and eating, you can try to manage the GI signs at home. Fast him for 24 hours to give his GI tract a rest. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. If he doesn't vomit, feed until the stool is normal before transitioning slowly to his regular diet. If he vomits or if the diarrhea does not resolve, see your veterinarian. If he develops lethargy or loses his appetite, see your vet. The head shaking and scratching at his ears may indicate ear infection. Scout may end up seeing the veterinarian regardless. An ear swab can be examined to diagnose yeast or bacterial infection in his ears.

Poor Amaya! If she is still continuing to get ill, I would seek out veterinary care in person ASAP as it is possible she is experiencing severe GI upset or got into something potentially harmful. If she has since settled down and stopped having vomiting or diarrhea episodes, and it's been several hours, you can attempt a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken to help settle her stomach for a few days, and then transition back to her regular food. However if she continues to vomit or have diarrhea, has blood in any of it, a painful abdomen, or her symptoms worsen or new ones appear, a veterinary visit ASAP is needed.

If he hasn't thrown up again recently, I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. If his diarrhea is not improving, or if he develops blood in his diarrhea then he should be seen by a veterinarian as anti-diarrhea medications may be recommended. Common causes of this is often some form of dietary indiscretion but other causes may include a parasitic infection or inflammation of his GI tract. Considering your description of the signs, Harley may have a possible gastrointestinal infection and require treatment with dietary change (bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portions every 6 hours for 4-5 days), antibiotics, probiotics, antiemetic medications and eventually gastroprotectants.
