My Yorkie threw up blood and won't eat. Is it an emergency vet visit?

It sounds as Enzo is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently as vomiting blood is a serious symptom, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Keep her indoors in a well padded area, rotate the side she lays on every 2-4 hours but if she is not responsive or vomiting do not offer her anything by mouth and do not give any human medication. She will likely need hospitalisation, iv fluids and antibiotics and pain medicine. If she has been vomiting multiple times in the last 24 hours, this can also sometimes cause blood in the vomiting due to irritation of the stomach and esophagus. Possible reasons include a gastric ulcer, toxin ingestion, a bleeding mass in the stomach, or a foreign body causing trauma to the stomach lining. The vet can perform a full physical exam, assess for anemia, and may suggest x-rays, ultrasound and/or blood work to determine the underlying cause. At minimum, they can prescribe supportive medications to help reduce any further bleeding, and minimize vomiting.
