My dog is vomiting repeatedly after eating, found ball pieces. What to do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 15 lbs

My dog suddenly started to vomiting just minutes after eating. I found little pieces of an old ball in the vomit. He has been doing it now like 10 times, and shaking sometimes but I don't know if is because he is scared. Now the vomit only contains a white foam. He's vaccinated. The first time that something like this happens. What should I do? No vets near.

My concern is that Axel has ingested a foreign object ( ball ) that could be potentially causing an obstruction. I hope this is not the case, he could have just some gastritis from the inflammation caused by the ball pieces. However, the presence of a potential foreign object in his tummy needs to be ruled out via a check up and x rays or other imaging, as it can be life threatening. Furthermore the vomiting will persist until the primary cause is addressed. While you search for a vet that can see Axel , offer him small amounts of water frequently , try not to let him drink a lot of water in one go as this will increase the chances of him being sick.

Oh no, poor Axel! If there was an old ball in the vomit, I would be very concerned that he is suffering a blockage from it. It's a medical emergency that he is vomiting so much in such a short period of time. He needs veterinary attention now, you have to bring him into a vet right away. He will need a shot to stop the vomiting and x-rays to diagnose if he does have a blockage. Should he have one, he will need surgery to remove it. Intestinal blockages are fatal without treatment. I see you live in Tampa, Florida. I have found a couple of 24 hour vet clinics you can take Axel into now: Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency (813-265-4043) and BluePearl Veterinary Partners (813-933-8944). Please take Axel into a vet immediately.

Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. My dog ate tennis ball pieces. Is her vomiting a bowel obstruction?

Since this has been going on, I would recommend that she is seen by your vet as soon as possible. Vomiting could mean that she does have an obstruction causing her nausea and pain. An obstruction can be intermittent, and leaving her untreated could turn into an emergency if the foreign material abrades or perforates her GI tract somewhere.

My dog swallowed a toy and is vomiting. Is it an intestinal blockage?

Sadly it is very possible that Onyx has a partial obstruction in the upper GI tract from swallowing the soft toy. I am glad that he is acting normally, but the vomiting after eating is very concerning. I recommend having him examined by a veterinarian and likely having x-rays taken to look for signs of an obstruction in the GI tract. The sooner, the better, to prevent possible damage to the GI tract, dehydration or more serious complications. Onyx may need surgery or a scoping procedure to remove an obstruction.

My dog is throwing up tennis ball pieces. Should I see an ER vet?

I am so sorry Simba has been throwing up! Based on his clinical signs, I recommend taking Simba to the Emergency Veterinarian. If he is vomiting up foreign material, such as the tennis ball, it is possible there is more in his stomach or his intestines that could be causing a partial or full obstruction. I hope Simba feels better soon!

My dog threw up a blue ball and black substance. Should I worry?

Poor guy. It is good that he at least vomited up this foreign object and hopefully he didn't ingest additional things that can harm him. Monitor him for the next 24 hrs for any other signs/symptoms that would prompt a vet visit, such as lethargy, decreased appetite, more vomiting or loose stool. I am not sure what the black substance is without seeing it, but as long as he is acting well and continues to do well for the next 24 hrs, he should be fine. If you do notice other symptoms or signs of trouble though, he should be seen by your vet right away for some testing and treatment. Best of luck with Boris and I hope that his illness symptoms stop here with the 1 vomiting episode. Keep him out of reach of objects that he can easily digest that could potentially harm him in the future. Best wishes and take care.

Why does my dog vomit an hour after eating and how can I stop it?

In a dog this young that you describe as chewing and tearing apart everything I would be most worried about a gastric foreign body that is intermittently causing a blockage. Pieces of toys or trash that are swallowed can get stuck in the pylorus - that's the part of the stomach that leads to the small intestine - and this causes vomiting. The vomiting will often temporarily dislodge the object, allowing things to return to normal for a while, only to block the outflow again. I'd urge you to get Max x-rayed at your vet. A barium series may be required to completely rule out a partial obstruction.

Why is my dog vomiting after eating a sock and now eating poop?

He could have gastritis from the sock irritating the stomach, But I worry that he may have something else in his stomach or intestinal tract that is causing the vomiting. If he vomits tomorrow morning then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. They will likely recommend an X-ray to look for an object/ obstruction.
