What do dog vaccines cost and are they separate from flea/tick meds?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 55 lbs

Looking for the estimated cost of Distemper, Bordella booster, DA2PLCPV booster, lyme disease vaccine. What is included in the DA2PLCPV 5in 1? Why is the parvo/distemper cost so high? what is included in this? If I give her flea and tick each month do I need to do the parvo and hearworm? Or do I need to do the heartworm/lyme?

It looks like the DA2PLCPV is the distemper parvo vaccine. I'm not sure who sets the prices but that vaccine does contain 5 different diseases so I assume that has something to do with the cost but this vaccine is not extremely expensive. Flea and tick prevention have nothing to do with heartworm prevention or any diseases. Just like heartworm prevention has nothing to do with distemper parvo or fleas and ticks. Dogs require a lot of up keep if you want to do your best to keep them healthy and it is recommended that all dogs stay current on vaccinations. Depending on where you live, fleas, ticks and heartworms can be seasonal but it can also be year round. With the shifting of the human population and the pets they bring with them across the country, parasite prevalence is changing and becoming more of a problem (pets bring the diseases/parasites with them). Speaking with a local veterinarian is your best option to learn Midnight's risk factors and what prevention is needed and when. Also, if Midnight is not spayed, I recommend to get that done. You can avoid many serious (and costly) health conditions by having her spayed.

What shots does my 2-year-old dog need and how much do they cost?
She is a pretty girl!!! The most important vaccination (and one required by law) is the Rabies vaccine. This is essential. The second most important vaccine is the Distemper vaccine, which is often a combo vaccine sometimes called a DHPP (protects against distemper, canine hepatitis, parvovirus and parainfluenza). These vaccines are considered the "core vaccines" for dogs. Every dog should have them. The rest will depend on her lifestyle. I also recommend the Leptosporosis vaccine for dogs if they spend time outdoors in areas with creeks/puddles/ponds because this disease is a bacteria transmitted to dogs by contaminated water (rodents who have the disease urinate and it contaminates the water and the dogs can acquire it this way). The Lepto vaccine requries a series of 2 booster 3 to 4 weeks apart if she has never had it before. Other vaccines you may consider would include Lyme if your dog is outdoors and exposed to ticks and you are in a lyme endemic area, Bordetella also known as Kennel Cough if you ever take her to the park/groomer/kennel/dog classes/out for walks in areas with other dogs. Canine Influenza is another vaccine I recommend for dogs that come into contact with many other dogs/areas with many other dogs such as kennels or dog shows/events. That vaccine will also require a series of 2 vaccines several weeks apart if she has never had it before.

Boi will need his DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza) combination vaccine as well as rabies (it's required by law in Florida). Is my puppy's vaccination schedule and cost normal or too much?
Hi. Great questions. Puppies should begin vaccines at 8 weeks old. Then they need vaccines every 3-4 weeks until the puppy is 16-18 weeks. It is then once a year after that. They do need a physical exam with every shot, they need a fecal rest in the first visit, and to start heartworm prevention. I would not be surprised that it does get close to 100 dollars a visit during these boosters. The positive thing is its only once a year after that :) I don't think you are being taken advantage of. Just know that none of us go in to this field to take advantage of clients. I hope that helps. And if you do feel it's too expensive, you can shop around. The negative to remember one that is you get what you pay for, and you have to go to someone you like. Congrats on puppies!

3-month puppy & 1-month kitten shots: What vaccines and Vetco cost?
Oh goodness, Kurama and the kitten are just adorable! At 3 months of age, it's the perfect time to give Kumara his second distemper/parvo combination vaccine. You may also consider bordetella (kennel cough), especially if he will be spending time around other dogs (grooming, boarding, dog park, etc) as well as leptospirosis, which has become more commonly seen in recent months in the northeast. At 16 weeks he'll get his final distemper/parvo booster, along with his rabies vaccination. You should also strongly consider a fecal test for parasites, as well as at least 2 deworming treatments. Your kitten will need 3 rounds of the feline distemper vaccine, starting at 8 weeks of age. Just like Kumara, she'll need rabies at 16 weeks. We are also recommending the feline leukemia vaccination for kittens, and also I recommend testing them for this disease as well as for feline AIDS. Dewormings for her as well as fecal tests are recommended.
