Can the smell of dog urine harm my pet rabbit or human health?

It may be stressful at first if your rabbit is not used to the smell, but should get better over time. Spraying other chemicals such as essential oils etc is probably NOT a good idea as that may be irritating to your rabbit's (and ferret's) bodies and may cause more harm than just having the ferret odor. Keeping the area cleaned and well ventilated is a better solution to minimize odors rather than mask it.

The smell can be unpleasant but you cannot catch anything from breathing only, most rats do not carry disease although because this one was found outside i would be more careful, try to avoid touching him and wash your hands after you clean his cage or after you do touch him.

The smell of the dog or a human will not stop the mom from returning, so best to leave the bunny in the nest unless it appears wounded. Baby bunnies are VERY tough to raise so their best bet is to stay with mom. Try to keep your dog away from the best area so mom doesn't feel threatened.

So bunnies have a typical bunny smell and there is no way to get rid of that. Bunnies live in colonies and each colony has its particular smell and it helps bunnies to recognize each other and tell if they are happy or afraid, etc. You can reduce the smell of their enclosure by cleaning it regularly, making sure to remove soiled (peed on) bedding often, preferably every day, and picking up the poop and removing it. This will reduce the smell significantly.

I have never heard anyone describe this type of smell before in reference to their rabbit's cage. The best I can tell you is to be sure to clean the cage frequently and be sure you are using an appropriate substrate. Check his back end for urine scalding or fecal matting/impaction. If the skin is bruised or reddened, have Oliver examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits to diagnose infection or injury.
