My dog has an upset stomach. Is chicken and rice really safe?

I typically recommend by 1 part chicken to 3 parts white rice. Give your dog a couple tablespoons, every few hours to start, and work up to about 1/4 cup every 4-6 hours as she tolerates things better. When your dog is eating well, start adding her dry food. If her signs don't resolve than she should be examined by a vet. She could have an infection or a parasite and your vet can prescribe medications to help.

Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in Luna's normal diet. If she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
