My dog was unresponsive after beach play. Was he just exhausted?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 40 lbs

My dog is fine; however, we let him run and play on the beach. That night at one o’clock I got up and he did not raise his head. I touched him and he did not move. He was so unresponsive I thought he had passed. We were in a remote area of Mexico with no vets or phone. He opened one eye, and went back into his world. I honestly thought he was dying. I checked on him at three and he had reversed his position, lifted his head, and wagged his tail. He was fine in the morning, thoughts?

It could be that Mulky was exhausted from his day, and was very tired. Given that he is fine in the morning, that would be my guess. I would keep an eye on him, and rest him today. I hope this helps!
