My rescue dog is underweight, sleepy, and sneezing. Should I worry?

He could have some allergies or possibly have an upper respiratory infection. You can monitor him for a few days and see if the sneezing resolves. If it continues, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He may need an anti-histamine or antibiotic to treat. As for the sleeping, it may take him some time to adjust to his new home. As long as he seems energetic when you take him out than it is probably nothing to worry about. You could have him examined by a vet if it continues. Coso is probably recovering from an upper respiratory infection or cold, or kennel cough. This may take another week or two to fully resolve. As long as he's eating and acting normal it's nothing to be overly concerned about. Puppies often get sick when together especially in a shelter or rescue situation and heal quickly once in a home with better care and nutrition. Congrats on your new dog! It certainly is possible that Finn has a respiratory infection if he was living in the pound before coming to your home. I would have him seen by a vet tomorrow. The vet can diagnose if he does have a respiratory infection, and can prescribe medications to treat his symptoms. Tonight, if he's congested, you can also try using a humidifier or bringing him into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections.

It's not uncommon that these shelter pups end up with an upper respiratory infection and it looks like Raven and Scarlette got it. These are usually mild diseases, but can be controlled with medication. I would call the shelter soon and ask if you can schedule with their vet. It may be a sign of sickness such as respiratory infection since he is sneezing. This is common in kittens especially from a shelter. However if there is no congestion or runny eyes I would monitor for further changes before getting worried. Since he is eating well, he may just be a calm cat or just getting used to his new home and may be a little scared still. Poor Baby! I am sorry she isn't feeling good. The symptoms you have mentioned make me concerned that Baby may have some sort of respiratory issue-kennel cough, pneumonia. I would recommend contacting your regular vet and arrange for her to be seen today. Advise them she has just come from a shelter situation, as repsiratory diseases can be quite contagious. They will likely ask for you to keep Baby in the car until they are ready to bring her into an exam room. Your vet will do a thorough exam, listen to Baby's heart and lungs. They may recommend some diagnostics such as X-rays and bloodwork too. Depending on the issues identified treatment may range (assuming it is a respiratory issue) from oral medications and rest at home, to hospitalization with IV fluids, oxygen therapy and injectable medications. Hi there! Harley needs to have a wellness visit with your veterinarian who, depending on the physical exam, may want to take xrays of her heart and lungs, and do blood work to evaluate her liver/kidney function. Harley could have a congenital heart or liver issue, or something going on with her upper respiratory tract.
