Is my dog too hot? Do fans work or does he need AC for summer?

By your description, it seems that Charlie is well cared for. In terms of temperature, if you are fine then he is likely also fine. You can monitor for panting, lethargy or excessive thirst. This may indicate he is too hot. If you have a fan, you can use it to keep air circulating.

Keeping fans on to circulate the air and providing plenty of water are great ways to help keep Scout and Benny as cool as possible. I recommend opening any windows as well so that any breezes can help circulate air too. If you do these things, they should be safe to keep in the house in temperatures up to about 90 degrees. I would not play with them or exercise them in this heat as this can cause them to overheat. As a reminder, pets cannot sweat so they have to cool off by panting. If you think either of them are too hot, you can lay cool/wet towels over them and place them in front of a fan to try to actively cool them off. I would monitor them closely for excessive panting, especially if they are laying down and panting for prolonged periods. You can also examine their gum color and if it appears bright red, this can be a sign of heat exhaustion. If you see any of these signs, I would recommend having them evaluated by a veterinarian who can address their potential heat stroke. I hope this is helpful!

Also make sure they have access to shade if they are outside. Please do not feed Cointhee any ice cream or other dairy products. Pets do not have the enzymes to break dairy down and it can cause diarrhea. As long as he has access to cool water to drink, that will be enough. Kisses to Cointhee!

You will need to make sure Shiro is kept indoors during the day in the air conditioning or with a fan. Do not let him stay outside. Make sure he always has cool water to drink. Walk him early in the morning and later in the evening when it's cooler. I hope this helps!

Puppies are prone to getting cold, so I would only do this if it seems that it's too hot in their environment. You can start with a low amount of AC if needed and turn it up if they tolerate it well. You will know the puppies are too cold if they forming a tight huddle next to or under mom. If they are more spread out, then this would indicate that they are very warm. It just may be too cold in front of the fan. She may also be afraid of the fan. Panting is a dog's way to regulate the body temperature. You can try to cool her down by taking Daisy swimming, or play with her showering her with a garden hose. You can also give her ice cubes to play with or suck (or eat....) and put ice cubes into her drinking bowl into the water. This should all help to cool her down as she sees fit or likes.

It's important to keep him cool especially in days like today, if you have a fan at home you can use it toward your puppy, it should help him cool down significantly. you can use a wet cloth on him several times a day, the water will help cooling him as well.
