Is it normal for my dog to feel tired and low energy after vaccines?

Puppy's getting sleepy after their shots is a normal reaction to vaccinations. They can also have a low grade fever and/or one bout of vomiting/diarrhea normally that are no cause for concern. The concern arises when your pet is severely lethargic, not eating, non-responsive, pale gums, or excessive vomiting/diarrhea. If you notice any of these symptoms then it is best to take puppy to a vet asap for immediate care, because a mores serious vaccine reaction is occurring at that point.

Boots is so cute!!! He's had a pretty stressful day with going to the vet, getting an exam, and getting vaccines. You can see the kitten being very tired and not eating as much after all of this. He should be back to normal within 24 hours, so I wound't be too concerned just yet. If he is still super tired and not eating much 24 hours after the vaccines, then I would be concerned and have him seen by a vet immediately. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

If it has been longer than this, it is likely unrelated to the vaccines that a good reason to have Saski evaluated by your veterinarian to ensure that there is not something else going on. Good luck! I am very sorry to hear that Bella isn't acting like herself. If the cause of her mood change were due to a vaccine reaction, typically you would see changes in the hours after the shots were administered. In addition, side effects and reactions from these shots do not typically last more than 12-24 hours. My suspicion is that whatever is bothering Bella has nothing to do with the vaccines. If she is still eating, drinking, peeing, and pooping, I wouldn't be too worried for the moment. Continue to monitor her for any serious changes in her health. If her energy level declines and any of the aforementioned things change in a negative fashion, I would consider speaking to your local veterinarian. Hope this helps you and Bella out!

Hello, sorry to hear about Kai. Yes, similar to humans, pets may be a bit under the weather after being vaccinated. This is typically self limiting and they should be back to their normal selfs in the morning. More concerning signs for a vaccine reaction may include a swollen face, hives, vomiting and decreased appetite. If you note any of these then have him evaluated by his veterinarian. Hi there. Yes, it's normal for dogs to be sore and lay around for a day or two after getting vaccinations - just like human kids! There is nothing over-the-counter that is safe to give dogs for pain, but you could call your veterinarian in the morning to ask about prescribing an anti-inflammatory med for her for a few days if she still seems pretty sore. For tonight, I would recommend just leaving her alone to rest. Most dogs are back to normal within a few days :)

I'm sorry Milli isn't feeling well! It's relatively common for dogs to feel lethargic or sore after vaccines. It usually resolves on its own within 24 hours. If she has any vomiting, diarrhea, facial swelling or hives I would take her to the vet right away. Otherwise, make sure she has access to water but I'd call your vet tomorrow if she's not back to normal by then.
