No, it isn't normal for a dog to behave like this after mating. It could be that the mating didn't take, and she could now be suffering from an infection of the uterus called a pyometra. A pyo is life threatening, and requires immediate medical attention. I would take Brinleigh into a vet now for an exam. The vet can do a physical exam, routine blood tests, a urinalysis, and x-rays to determine if she does have a pyometra. If she does have one, the recommended treatment is to spay her and treat her with antibiotics. Please take her into a vet now.

It could be that the sugar from the cookies has upset her stomach leading to the belly sounds, but the amount of chocolate in the cookies wouldn't be enough to cause any toxicity. Given that she is going potty as well as eating and drinking, I'd say she is just fine. A dog's nose changes from cold to warm just by laying in the sun or a near a heat source, so that isn't a concern. As for the warm ears, that could be due to the heat if it's warm where you are. My main recommendation is to check her temperature to make sure she does not have a fever (over 102.5). While it is normal for the temperature to rise for the first 24 hours after whelping, by now it should return to normal. If she does have a fever or the vaginal discharge has a foul smell, is increasing in volume, or she seems to be feeling any worse, then take her to the veterinarian. If you have a house call veterinarian in your area, that would be even better. Infection of the uterus, or metritis, is possible and should be taken seriously. At two days post-whelping, a reddish brown discharge is normal. If she has no fever and seems to be feeling better, then just make sure she has plenty to eat and lots of fresh water. This is not necessarily normal but it is also may not be a concern. To be safe I would recommend having her examined by your veterinarian. They can also check her stool for parasites which could be passed on to puppies, and you can discuss a plan for monitoring her pregnancy.

It could be that you are accidentally sticking the thermometer in feces, and that's causes the differences in temperature you are seeing. If Moon is pregnant and it's now 98.7F, then she should be giving birth to puppies within the next 12-24 hours. To be safe, because you've been seeing these fluctuations in temperature, I would have her seen by a vet now.
