My dog's eyes are swollen and he's sluggish. Is it an emergency?

It could be self-inflicted trauma from excessive scratching, or it may be a blunt injury from walking into something or being scratched by another animal. As there is a risk of damage to the cornea, I would suggest you to take Cooper to your local vets today to fully examine the eye and to get treatment for him.

I'm worried about proptosis (eye has popped out of the socket) or glaucoma. Both are emergencies. I recommend that you take Princess to the emergency room. Good luck!

Hi there and thank you for using PetCoach to address your concern. Based on your description and the pictures you provided, it appears as though Brody is having an allergic reaction. I would recommend using Benadryl, which you can read about at this link ( https://www.petcoach.co/pet-medication/benadryl/ ). If there is no improvement, then I would seek an emergency veterinary hospital that is open 24 hours so you can get him seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps! This looks like a swelling of Poppy's conjunctiva as opposed to the eye itself. It could be due to an allergic reaction or infection such as conjunctivitis. She will need eye drops and antinflammatories to settle this down so go to your vet as soon as you can. In the mean time pressing a cooled tea bag on the outside of the eye can provide some relief.

Unfortunately, I would recommed taking Doug to an ER vet. Anytime an eye condition worsens, I consider it an emergency. Eye conditions can become severe enough to permanently damage the eye very quickly and Pugs are prone to having some significant eye problems.
