Yes, if he is reluctant to or struggling to open the eye, I would be very concerned that he may have a scratch or lesion on his cornea. His eye should be examined by a veterinarian to determine if that is a possibility. If so, he would require prescription eye medication. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sofie, I am sorry she isn't feeling well! Sadly the symptoms you are describing are non-specific and can indicate many things. Lethargy, not moving and keeping the eyes closed indicates that Sofie is sick. She could be painful or have a fever. Almost anything can cause the symptoms she is exhibiting ranging from Lyme disease, to cancer, to kidney failure, to nausea, etc. I recommend that Sofie be examined by a Vet today. I recommend getting your pet in to be seen by your veterinarian right away. Vomiting and lethargy together are very concerning and can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance as well as low blood sugar. The swollen eye may or may not have anything to do with the vomiting. He could be having an allergic reaction. He might have eaten something that either disagreed with him or something that has gotten stuck somewhere in his gastrointestinal tract. He could be sore from a hidden injury you are unaware of, he could have been exposed to some sort of toxin or irritant in his environment or this could be early signs of another condition or disease process. Your pet may need IV fluids to help support his/her system and to be fasted at the same time in order to give the gut a rest. Your vet can do an exam, blood work and possibly x-rays to determine the cause of the illness and suggest an effective treatment plan.

I would be concerned that Pixie may have a scratch or some type of eye injury or infection. Pixie should see a veterinarian right away to determine what is causing her pain. If she has a lesion on her eye, that needs to be addressed as quickly as possible.

Hopefully this is just transient but if this continues, I would recommend that you have Kobi evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If there is no improvement, then I would seek an emergency veterinary hospital that is open 24 hours so you can get him seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps!
